2023

Hello, dear teachers and educators! Welcome to my blog, where I share useful resources and tips for teaching and learning. In this post, I will be sharing with you the first quarter week 1 daily lesson logs (DLLs) from the Department of Education (DEPED). These DLLs are designed to help you plan and deliver effective and engaging lessons for your students.

What are DLLs?

DLLs are detailed guides that outline the objectives, activities, materials, assessment, and reflection for each day of the week. They are based on the curriculum guides and learning competencies of each subject and grade level. They also follow the most essential learning competencies (MELCs) that were identified by DEPED as the priority learning outcomes amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Why use DLLs?

DLLs are useful tools that can help you prepare and organize your lessons in advance. They can also help you save time and effort in creating your own lesson plans from scratch. By using DLLs, you can ensure that your lessons are aligned with the standards and expectations of DEPED. You can also customize and modify the DLLs according to your context, needs, and preferences.

Where to find DLLs?

You can find the first quarter week 1 DLLs for all subjects and grade levels on our site. You can download them for free and print them out or access them online. You can also find other resources and materials that can support your teaching and learning on the website.

I hope you find these DLLs helpful and useful for your teaching practice. Please feel free to share your feedback, comments, and suggestions on how to improve these DLLs. You can also share your own experiences and insights on using these DLLs in your classroom. Thank you for reading my blog and stay tuned for more updates! blush

Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte has issued a reminder to all public school teachers and administrators to remove any wall decorations in their classrooms before the opening of classes this August. She said this is to ensure that students can concentrate on their lessons and avoid distractions.

Duterte announced on her Facebook page, where she shared the guidelines from DepEd (Department of Education) Order No. 21, Series of 2023. The order contains the implementing rules for Brigada Eskwela, a nationwide initiative that mobilizes volunteers to help prepare public schools for the new school year.

According to the order, schools should always maintain a clean and orderly environment. It also states that classroom walls should remain bare and devoid of posters, decorations or other posted materials. Moreover, classrooms should not be used to store or dispose of unused items or materials.

Duterte said these measures align with the DepEd's revised Kinder to Grade 10 curriculum, which aims to reduce the number of learning competencies students need to master. The curriculum will be implemented through a pilot program this incoming school year.

The Vice President also supported Brigada Eskwela by personally participating in cleaning and maintaining a classroom in Davao del Sur. She was seen removing decorations from the walls and arranging the desks and chairs.

Some teachers, however, have expressed their disagreement with Duterte's directive. They argued that some decorations are helpful and beneficial for some students, especially the younger ones. They said that some decorations can stimulate creativity, enhance memory, and provide visual aids for learning.

Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Vice President Sara Z. Duterte kicked off Brigada Eskwela 2023 on Monday at the Tarlac National High School. In her speech, Duterte cited the "Bayanihan" spirit as one of the essence of the annual event.

"Brigada Eskwela [or] Schools Maintenance Week, on the other hand, is an appeal to the Bayanihan spirit of every Filipino to help prepare our schools for the opening of classes," Duterte said.

This year's Brigada Eskwela, held from August 14 to 19, is themed "Bayanihan Para sa Matatag na Paaralan." It underscores the country's volunteer initiatives to ensure a clean, safe, inclusive, and child-friendly learning environment for learners and teaching and non-teaching personnel and strengthen the resiliency of schools and basic education.

Duterte also announced that there will no longer be contests for Best Implementing School Awards, Hall of Fame Awards, and Brigada Plus at the national level for this year's Brigada Eskwela. This is to emphasize the true spirit of volunteerism and prevent schools from holding solicitations to raise contributions for its Brigada Eskwela activities.

To date, DepEd has received about PHP44 million in donations from partners for public schools nationwide and about PHP1.6 million in donations for Tarlac National High School.

During the kick-off event, Duterte also visited the booths of DepEd's 31 partner organizations, who participated in the exhibit that showcases their support, contributions, and initiatives for public schools nationwide.

Education is not just about imparting knowledge; it's about nurturing well-rounded individuals who can contribute meaningfully to society. The DepED curriculum guides serve as a roadmap for educators and students, ensuring a comprehensive and balanced educational experience. These guides instill a love for learning, critical thinking, and the skills needed to thrive in an ever-changing world.

The Department of Education (DepEd) provides Electronic Class Record (ECR) Templates free for all public school teachers. These templates are a valuable tool for teachers, as they allow for calculating grades consistent with DepEd Order No. 8, s. 2015, also known as the Policy Guidelines on Classroom Assessment for the K to 12 Basic Education Program.

The ECR templates are designed to be user-friendly and easy to use. They are simplified using basic features in a spreadsheet file, so even teachers with limited technical skills can use them. The templates also come with user manuals that provide step-by-step instructions on how to use them.

The ECR templates can save teachers significant time when computing grades. This is especially helpful for teachers with large classes or teaching multiple subjects. The templates also help to ensure that grades are computed accurately and consistently.

In addition to computing grades, the ECR templates can track student progress throughout the school year. This information can be helpful for teachers when making decisions about student placement, interventions, and enrichment activities.

The ECR templates are a valuable tool for all public school teachers. They can save teachers time, ensure accurate grade computation, and track student progress. If you are a public school teacher, please download and use the ECR templates.

Here are some additional benefits of using the DepEd ECR Templates:

They can help teachers save time and energy, which can be better spent planning lessons and interacting with students.

  • They can help to ensure that grades are computed accurately and consistently, which promotes fairness and equity in the classroom.
  • They can help teachers to track student progress over time, which can help identify students who need additional support.
  • They can provide teachers with data that can be used to improve their teaching practices.
  • If you are a public school teacher, I encourage you to learn more about the DepEd ECR Templates and to consider using them in your classroom. They are valuable tool that can help you to be more effective in your teaching.
